The French regulatory framework is very specific with regard to Ultra Light aviation in terms of helicopters.

These microlights must comply with the HUL regulations (ultra light helicopter) identical to the CS27 standards

  • A weight limit of 500 kg  at takeoff.

  • A limit of 2 in the number of places.

  • A limit to 143 hp of engine power.

As far as their piloting is concerned, a single patent is imposed on them without constraint of maintenance of skills and without any other medical specification than an authorization from the attending physician authorizing the practice of ULM.

 

As far as the regulatory implementation of the project is concerned, France allows studies, prototyping and flights of a microlight to be carried out with a declarative file with the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
